Grand Gorge Couple Wed in Methodist Church

The Grand Gorge Methodist Church was the setting of the wedding of Miss Irene J. Steiner and Winfield M. Hinkley on August 6, 1950.  The ceremony was performed by the Rev. G. P. Wenner.  Gladioli were used for decorations.  The organist was Mrs. Stanton Harper of Stamford and the soloist, Katherine Mattice of Gilboa.  Miss Steiner is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Otto Steiner of Grand Gorge and Mr. Hinkley is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Winfield S. Hinkley, also of Grand Gorge.

The bride, who was given in marriage by her father, wore a white marquisette gown over satin designed with a fitted bodice and full skirt with high neckline formed by a yoke of Chantilly lace.  The gown had a court train.  The bride wore a tiara of seed pearls and carried a bouquet of white rosebuds.

Miss Margaret VanDenburgh of Albany was the maid of honor.  Her gown was of yellow chiffon.  The bridesmaids were Miss Mary Russo of Clarksville and Miss Lois Sutter of Delmar.  They were dressed alike in blue chiffon.  The mother of the bride chose a blue print dress and wore a corsage of red roses and Mrs. Hinkley wore a brown print dress with a corsage of red roses.  Judith Steiner, niece of the bride, was flower girl and Lawrence Steiner, nephew of the bride, was ring bearer.  They are from Prattsville.  Best man was the bridegroom's brother, Thomas E. Hinkley; Robert Parsons of Middleburgh and James Hamilton of Grand Gorge were the ushers.  A reception after the ceremony was held at the home of the bride.  Decorations were in white, yellow and pink.

After a wedding trip the couple will make their home in Grand Gorge.  The bride is a graduate of Grand Gorge Central School, class of 1947.  The bridegroom also graduated from Grand Gorge Central School in the class of 1947 and attended Ithaca College.  He is associated in business with his father.
